The image of John Wesley on horseback with saddlebags full of books is much loved among United Methodists.  Wesley believed education to be essential for all persons in order for them to become responsible citizens and of faith.  In 1748, John Wesley established Kingswood School to educate the children of miners 'that they might know the things that make for peace'.
In 1998, the Administrative Council of St. Paul's approved the Education Committee request to establish the St. Paul's United Methodist Church Youth College Scholarship Honor.  The purpose of the Scholarship Program is to offer St. Paul's youth the opportunity to attend a two or four year college, university or trade school of their choice.  Since that time, we have awarded four $1000 scholarships.  An additional $500 was also given to all recipients during the junior year.
